Wrightington Hospital has been known for many years as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in the treatment of Orthopaedic conditions.
We are seeking motivated Health Care Assistants who are passionate about Orthopaedics to join our hardworking team dedicated to providing compassionate care for our patients.
The post is for 1 x 37.5 hour and 1 x 27 hour per week.

The role will require you to work across all areas in the Trust which includes those that are designated as positive, asymptomatic and negative COVID wards.
Main duties of the job
The successful post holder will:
* Function as a team member of the Multidisciplinary Team by assisting the Registered Nurse in the delivery of effective high-quality patient care. All work undertaken by the post holder will be under direct supervision of the Registered Nurse.
* Provide care/assistance to patients according to needs and problems identified in individual patient care plans.
* Report condition, progress and problems encountered to the nurse in charge.
* Escort patients to and from other departments and hospitals when required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Participate in meetings and handover to discuss patients' progress and care.
* Monitor and maintain stock levels on ward/department.
* Undertake errand duties which include:
o Transporting specimens
o Collecting instruments/drugs
o Collecting case notes as required
o Assisting in the preparation of patient case notes as required.

Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE (or equivalent).
Skills
* Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrate self-motivational skills.
* Ability to prioritise and organise own workload.
* Demonstrate a good telephone manner.
* Recognise own limitations and learning needs.
Knowledge
* Understanding of patient confidentiality.
* Knowledge of hospital IT systems.
Experience
* Experience of working in a busy, pressurised environment.
* Experience of working within a team.
* Recent experience in a healthcare setting.
