Passionate about horses? We are looking for an Equine Yard Technician!
Here at Scarsdale, we are looking for a positive and self-motivated Equine Yard Technician to work alongside our vets and nursing team to provide high quality husbandry to our equine patients.
Your main duties will include:
1. General husbandry - mucking out, feeding, watering.
2. Paddock maintenance - including poo picking.
3. Handling a variety of horses including competition, pleasure and young horses and those used for breeding.
4. Communicating with colleagues and raising concerns regarding health and welfare of the patient with case vet or nursing team.
5. Daily grooming of inpatients.
6. General cleanliness of the yard and stables including following infection prevention and control and isolation policies and procedures, undertaking post-discharge infection control procedures and daily and weekly cleaning procedures.
7. Maintenance of the yard including weeding and painting stables when needed.
8. Occasionally assist with veterinary procedures including trotting up, lunging and holding for veterinary inspection/procedures.
9. Provide excellent customer service to clients and adhere to confidentiality and data protection guidelines.
10. Monitor and maintain stock levels of hay/haylage, bedding and feed.
About the rota and salary
This is a part-time role working 15-20 hours per week Monday-Friday. The shifts will start at 8:30am and you will be working 3-4 hours per morning.
The salary will be up to £11,897 DOE per annum.

We are a friendly, supportive team with a range of experience from recent graduates to experienced vets and certificate holders, covering all aspects of first opinion equine care with excellent support staff. We have a range of good diagnostic equipment, in-house laboratory, inpatient and surgical facilities which allow us to do our job to a high level.

1. Experience handling a variety of horses.

5. Good timekeeper.
6. Good attention to detail.

9. Equine Qualification (BHS, NVQ, PC).
10. Experience of veterinary practice.
11. Good sense of humour.
