We are seeking to appoint a Kitchen Assistant to work in our busy school kitchen as part of our friendly lunchtime team. This role includes preparing the area for meals, assisting in aspects of food preparation and the serving of meals, washing up, and cleaning of equipment and kitchen areas as directed. The role will also include assisting the lunchtime team in a midday supervisory role. This position is part time, term time only, from 11.45am - 1.15pm, Monday to Friday (7.5 hours per week). This post is initially advertised as fixed term until July 2025.
We offer a positive and thriving school environment, well-behaved children, and a great team of staff. Please note that previous experience is not essential, but applications that describe some experience of working in a school and/or kitchen environment will be especially welcomed.
Southill Primary School is an inclusive school offering high-quality provision in a warm and friendly environment. We have high expectations of our children, who are keen to learn, and high expectations of our staff, who are a talented, committed, and supportive team. We strongly believe that the mental wellbeing of our pupils is as important as their learning.
Southill Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to have an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check in line with the Government's safer recruitment guidelines.
This role is UK based, and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.
Southill Primary School will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not be on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of the advert and will be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments. In the first year of service, this salary may need to be adjusted to ensure you are paid accurately to reflect your holiday entitlement. A similar adjustment may be made at the point your employment ends to ensure that you are paid accurately for the number of days worked in any academic year.
