Job summary
We are seeking an Assistant Psychologist to work in a Community Learning Disability Service in the York and Selby area.
You will be workingwithin a multi-disciplinary team, primarily supporting the lead psychologist. You will also have opportunity to work closely with other team members and in coproduction with service users and carers.
Main duties of the job
1. Assisting in gathering baseline (pre and post) assessments indicating the level of trauma informed thinking across community and partner agencies and services, as well as manage and develop databases for reporting purposes
2. Assisting in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding to benefit all service users of adult learning disability teams, across all settings where care takes place
3. Being involved in case discussions and decisions regarding support needs
4. Assisting the co-ordination and running of support provided to external providers with good record keeping and data collection at all times
5. Developing and maintaining strong and supportive relationships with community, inpatient and external service providers
6. Collaboration with local partners to develop trauma informed thinking to improve the safety and quality of local resources working with individuals who have trauma experiences
7. Supporting with the write up of team case formulations
8. You will support qualified colleagues to organise and deliver reflective practice spaces. There will be opportunities to co-produce and further develop future training packages/workshops
9. You will receive regular clinical supervision from the Service Psychologist.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
10. Degree in psychology.
11. Eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
12. Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
Desirable
13. Post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.
Skills
Essential
14. Ability to communicate information (verbal and written) effectively in a manner appropriate to the individual and situation
15. Competence in using psychometric assessment tools (within agreed timescale)
16. Methodical and accurate approach to data collection and analysis.
17. Record Keeping (within agreed timescale)
Experience

18. Experience as a psychology assistant (paid or voluntary)
19. Experience working with people with mental ill health or learning disabilities (paid or voluntary).
20. Experience of clinical audit, research or service evaluation.
