Job Title: Kitchen Porter

Job Summary: The Kitchen Porter at Silverstone is a vital member of the kitchen team, responsible for maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment to ensure smooth operations. This role supports chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff by handling essential cleaning and maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintaining Cleanliness:
Operate dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitise dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils.
Ensure all kitchen equipment, including cooking utensils and trays, is thoroughly cleaned and sanitised.
Clean and sanitise kitchen surfaces, countertops, and floors.
Dispose of kitchen waste, including empty containers, food scraps, and trash.
Stock and Inventory Management:
Assist in monitoring and managing inventory of cleaning supplies and kitchen equipment.
Maintain a well-organised kitchen, ensuring that utensils and equipment are easily accessible to kitchen staff.
Communication and Collaboration:
Assist chefs and kitchen staff in food preparation, such as prepping ingredients.
Retrieve and stock kitchen supplies as needed.
Communicate effectively with the kitchen staff to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
Report any kitchen maintenance issues to the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager.
Be flexible in assisting with kitchen tasks as needed during busy events and peak times.
Hygiene and Safety:
Adhere to safety and hygiene standards, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and waste disposal.
Follow health and safety guidelines, including the correct use of personal protective equipment.
Sustainability:
Promote and implement sustainability initiatives as directed by Silverstone.
Support efforts to reduce waste and improve environmental practices within the kitchen.
Qualifications:
Basic understanding of Health and Safety in kitchens, including how to avoid cross-contamination and proper handling of hazardous substances.
Experience with basic food preparation is a plus.
Ability to work in a physically demanding role, potentially involving long hours.
Willingness to complete a basic hygiene certificate within the first six months of employment.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
