We have an exciting opportunity for a Speciality Doctor to join our dynamic older adult neuro service based in South Wales.
The service provides integrated care and treatment for people with dementia and other degenerative conditions and associated challenging behaviour. The postholder will work alongside a comprehensive multidisciplinary team including Senior nurses, Consultant Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Dieticians and Psychology. The post is supported by a Band 5 Speech and Language and an assistant speech and language. You will be part of a small and supportive speech and language therapy team across the larger organisation, which in turn is part of a larger clinical services directorate of AHP and Psychology clinicians.
Main duties of the job
This post provides an opportunity to work with a fascinating and varied group of patients with complex needs. The majority of patients are detained under the Mental Health Act. Some have neuropsychiatric needs and others may have offended.
A high standard of psychiatric clinical care delivered to an agreed number of patients at St Peters Hospital is required. Psychiatric input will also be provided to some patients living in specialist group homes run by Iris Care Group as they make progress along their recovery pathway. St Peters Hospital provides a mental health service for both male and female patients in conditions of low security.
The post holder will be expected to make a significant contribution to patient multi-disciplinary team meetings and CPA meetings. Multidisciplinary clinical services include Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy as well as Nursing.

Qualifications
* We are looking for a dedicated experienced doctor with:
* - Full GMC registration and a valid licence to practice
* - Experience in Neurology or a related specialism
* - Strong commitment to patient-centred care
