West Sussex County Council is excited to announce the expansion of our reablement service and is recruiting for a second permanent staff team to help us double our capacity. This growth will enable us to manage a highly effective service that supports individuals in achieving as much independence as possible.
Our goal is simple: to ensure that as many people as possible who could benefit from reablement can access the service as early as possible. Historically, reablement has focused on supporting individuals recently discharged from hospital. Now, we are expanding the service to help people in the community who may otherwise require ongoing support.
The Regaining Independence Service focuses on helping people get back to where they want to be. We understand how vital it is for people to gain and regain skills which give them the confidence to live their lives their way. Occupational Therapy (OT) helps those with impairment and disability to live independent, productive lives. We support people to access their wider community, work and leisure activities and essential daily activities.
To help us create a reablement workforce that reflects the communities we serve, and to ensure we have diverse perspectives and insights, we would particularly welcome applications from people from ethnic minority backgrounds and those with a disability.
The team has a supportive and caring culture and that shows in their everyday work but don't just take our word for it hear from the team themselves:
" I think we work well as a team. I feel well supported by the manager and the senior practitioner, who listen to the teams needs and react. I like the fact that as a service WSCC and RIS are extremely flexible and adjust my working to help my work life balance"
"The team are very supportive with everyone being very generous in terms of sharing knowledge, experience and availability for joint visits. I feel as though the team is passionate about delivering person centred therapy and believe in the core principles of reablement"
