We are currently recruiting experienced part-time support staff to work with Carol, a lady living in the Wishaw area of North Lanarkshire.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced support worker looking to develop their already existing support skills and to be involved in helping Carol enjoy life and develop.
A driver with a full UK clean current driving license is essential for this post.
"I am Carol and I am 26 years old. I am friendly, fun, clever with a wicked sense of humor. I have been told my determination is inspirational!
People who know and care about me say that I am always happy, have a beautiful smile and an infectious giggle. I love having the opportunity to explore new activities as I like living life to the full. I am a very sociable person and being involved in my community and having good relationships with other people the same age as me is very important to me.
When I was one year old, I was diagnosed with a rare neuro-genetic condition. This has never stopped me from enjoying lots of different physical activities. I have tried many activities such as swimming, (hydrotherapy pool) dancing, trampolining, cycling, horse riding, wheelchair ice skating, and ten-pin bowling. Some of these form a regular part of my week and others I dip into and out of as my mood takes me.
I am supported with every aspect of daily living, to maintain my mobility and develop my independence. The 2:1 support I have is at certain points during the day and enables me to transfer safely and to undertake exercise that is essential to maintaining my mobility, developing my strength, and staying healthy.
What I am looking for…
* Someone who is alert and switched on.
* Someone who is calm.
* Someone who is positive.
* Someone with a strong personality but not overwhelming.
* Someone with at least a year's experience as a support worker.
Shifts are from 8 am to 9 pm or 10 pm, contracted hours 15-30 plus sleepover.
You will be expected to be part of a weekend rota.
There will be the opportunity to do overtime during team holiday times.
If you feel you are a good match for Carol then click to apply!
We are looking for individuals who share our values:
Go above and beyond – do their best and strive to achieve the best for the person they support, are committed and passionate to ensuring that the person they support has the same opportunities in life that we all have.
Challenge the status quo – will be the voice and advocate for the person they support, are resilient, driven, and open to new challenges and ways of thinking.
Do the right thing – are honest and have integrity, ensure that the person they work for is kept safe and their colleagues' work environment is a good place to be.
Find the joy in the ordinary – are able to appreciate the small things and able to value and see small goals as achievements.
Look at the world from a different perspective – seeing the world through someone else’s eyes, listen to what’s not being said and learn new ways to communicate with people.
Make a difference – be everything from a gym buddy to singing along with someone’s favourite song, musician to film buff. Encourage the person you support to do the things they love and encourage them to try new activities.
Take responsibility - be responsible and take ownership of decisions, speak up and make suggestions to better people's lives.
