About The Role
This is a Fixed Term role until March 2026 working full-time.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join our friendly, welcoming and supportive team and to become involved in leading the provision of excellent levels of support to all SAIL Databank users and projects across a range of services. You will lead a team of data scientists playing a core role in facilitating the activities of the SAIL Databank, enabling users and projects across their journey with SAIL, including but not limited to:
1. Inception of a project with scoping
2. Applying for approvals
3. Provisioning data to approved projects
4. Providing expertise about use of the data
5. Reviewing and approving output requests
The SAIL Databank is a world-class trusted research environment with robust and secure policies and processes enabling the access and use of anonymised individual-level data for research to improve health, well-being and services. The SAIL Databank is internationally recognised, backed and endorsed by the Government, with the SAIL Databank receiving core funding from the Welsh Government’s Health and Care Research Wales and other funders. Currently, the SAIL Databank is enabling and supporting around 350 active research projects and receives 60-70 new applications every year.

Welsh Language Skills
The Welsh language level required for this role is Level 1 - A little. The role holder will be able to pronounce Welsh words, answer the phone in Welsh (good morning/afternoon) and use very basic everyday words and phrases (thank you, please etc.). Level 1 can be reached by completing a 1 hour course.
