Job Description
As Regional Planning Manager, you will contribute to the success of the transport/planning team. You will be responsible for managing a team of centrally based planners, along with all outbase planning functions. A highly motivated and driven individual, you will be experienced in working in a quick and fast-paced environment and able to deal with day-to-day challenges in providing an effective transport plan.
Working normally Monday to Friday on a 37.5-hour working week. However, due to the nature of the role, you may be required to work additional hours/days to meet the demands of the business.
What will you be doing?
1. Work with Transport and Warehouse teams to create an efficient transport plan using the latest TMS.
2. Assemble 400+ consolidated orders into loads every 24 hours.
3. Be responsible for the correct setup of hauliers, annual reviews, and general monitoring of performance.
4. Manage the planning of daily workload of the fleet together with vehicles based on site and outbases through a team.
5. Be the main point of contact for the implementation of any changes to the business.
6. Manage all customer collections through the team and ensure all collections are planned in a timely manner to meet onward journeys.
7. Maintain and exceed agreed KPIs.
8. Proactively look for continuous improvements.
9. Make decisions under pressure and to tight timescales.
10. Have a flexible and adaptable approach to working to meet the requirements of the business, particularly during peak periods.
11. Utilise the Culina Group network efficiently in support of Great Bear when volumes dictate.
12. Authorize spend relating to subcontractors both internally and externally, while maintaining a budget and understanding variations from this budget.
13. Identify TMS development requirements, scope of requirement, and implementation on system upgrades.
14. Manage a modest-sized team of Transport administrators, planners, and senior planners.
Qualifications
1. Good geographical knowledge of the UK.
2. Proficient in computer literacy including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
3. CPC desirable but not required.
4. Previous planning of a large and complex operation (advantageous, not a necessity).
5. Experience of planning 100+ tractor units across multiple depots.
6. Excellent communication skills and ability to succeed in a pressurized environment.
7. Customer focus on delivery performance.
8. Commercially and financially astute, driven to deliver exceptional results.
9. Experience of using a TMS system.
10. Experience in an FMCG environment.
11. Strong analytical and Excel capability across standard formulas.
12. Ability to work using own initiative and with little supervision.
13. Experience in managing a team and proactively encouraging progression.
