The Role: As a Contentious Probate Solicitor, you will be responsible for advising clients on a range of contentious probate and trust matters. You will handle disputes arising from wills, estates, trusts, and inheritance, and assist clients with resolving these disputes through litigation, negotiation, and alternative dispute resolution. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-value and complex cases, with a focus on providing strategic and client-focused legal advice. Principal Accountabilities: Advising clients on contentious probate matters, including will disputes, estate administration disputes, inheritance claims, and trust disputes. Managing your own caseload of contentious probate files, ensuring timely and accurate progress on all cases. Representing clients in court proceedings, including drafting pleadings, applications, and other necessary documents. Negotiating settlements and alternative dispute resolution processes to achieve the best outcomes for clients. Building and maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring clear communication, and understanding of complex legal matters. Working closely with other departments within the firm to provide comprehensive legal services to clients. Keeping up to date with relevant case law, legislation, and best practices within the contentious probate area. Contributing to the business development and growth of the firm, including networking, attending events, and marketing the firm’s contentious probate services Keep an eagle eye on financial control. Uphold quality standards. Attend departmental meetings and contribute. About You: Qualified Solicitor with 3 years PQE of experience in contentious probate or a related area. In-depth knowledge of contentious probate law, including relevant legislation and case law. Strong litigation experience and a proven track record of managing contentious probate matters, both inside and outside of court. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly to clients. Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple cases efficiently. Tech-savvy (Word, Outlook, Excel, and case management systems). A client-focused approach with the ability to manage sensitive matters with empathy and professionalism. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
