Location: Cambridge, UK
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Oncology Bioscience group in Cambridge, UK as a laboratory-based scientist. You will become part of a large team of bioscientists and play a pivotal role in the delivery of robust and high quality in vitro data to explore drug resistance mechanisms within the Oncology portfolio. Working collaboratively with other disciplines across AstraZeneca you will have the opportunity to really drive projects forward, identifying and validating novel targets, determining the mechanism of action of drug resistance and novel drug combination strategies.
You should hold, or be close to completing, a PhD in a biological science with a passion for experimental work and delivering data from the laboratory. A knowledge of oncology and some experience in cell and molecular biology techniques will be important for this role. You will use your scientific judgement, ability to analyse data, lab experience and communication skills to contribute to experimental design and interpretation.

What you'll do
* Deliver high quality in vitro data to chracterise drug resistance in cancer models according to the study plan as agreed with the team leader
* Provide interpretation of experimental data, identifying innovative solutions to problems and putting forward plans for further experiments
* Communicate experimental data and key findings in a clear and concise manner to project teams
* Generate and maintain clear experimental records
* Maintain an awareness of current developments in the literature to support projects, bring forward new target ideas or new technologies / assay methods
Essential for the role
* PhD in a relevant field
* Good understanding of cancer cell biology
* Good understanding of a range of in vitro cell and molecular biological techniques and assays
* Experience of cancer cell line tissue culture techniques
* Ability to design and conduct experiments and develop methods
* Ability to generate and maintain clear experimental records
* Good communication and presentation skills
* Positive and collaborative team player with willingness to improve and learn new skills
* Passion for experimental work with a desire to pursue a career from the lab
Desirable for the role
* Experience of cell-based and mechanistic techniques, such as cellular proliferation and survival assays.
* Experience in molecular biology techniques such as CRISPR gene knockout, gene expression analysis and western blotting.
