About the area The Student Equity and Success teams facilitate a high-quality student experience focused on access and support for students, both academic and cocurricular activities that enrich an inclusive student experience, including the development of a dedicated first year experience. The Equity and Success Team is responsible for the oversight of the Student Access and Participation Framework which, through local ownership and accountability, the University community seeks to empower all students to aspire to, achieve and thrive at The University of Western Australia. UniAccess is UWA’s disability office providing a free confidential service for students and prospective students with a disability or medical condition. Students access the team to gain assistance with adjustments required to reduce the impact of their disability or medical condition on their studies. This may include - alternative assessment, physical access, accessible course material, alternative exam arrangements and support to liaise with disciplines and faculties within the University. About the opportunity You will work with the Manager, UniAccess, Manager, Careers and Employability and colleagues to achieve project objectives to implement and execute UWAs Disability Employment Program. Develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (e.g. industry partners, community disability organisations) in order to develop an extensive network of opportunities for students with a disability or medical condition seeking employment after they graduate. Provide strategic and business development advice to ensure the program’s sustainability beyond the project timeframe. About you Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. in allied health) or demonstrated equivalent competency. Substantial experience working with people with a disability, mental health conditions, or chronic medical conditions, preferably in disability employment services. Contemporary knowledge and understanding of the impacts of disability and medical conditions. Knowledge of equity and diversity issues relevant to students with disabilities in Australian higher education, including careers and employability challenges and opportunities.
