Vehicle Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Engineer
Are you a Vehicle Maintenance Engineer or Mechanical Engineer with experience in Automotive, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Distribution environments?
DP World is expanding its state-of-the-art London Gateway Container Port in Stanford le Hope, Essex. Our Engineers play a vital role in ensuring smooth terminal operations by maintaining the reliability of infrastructure, including Quay Cranes, Automated/Robotic Crane systems, and mobile/heavy plant equipment. Technicians are assigned to specific asset groups to perform planned maintenance, repairs, and project work, as well as assist during the delivery, inspection, and commissioning of new equipment.
This is a 24/7 operation with day and night shifts, working 12-hour shifts from 6am-6pm and 6pm-6am. In a two-week period, you will work only 7 shifts and have every other weekend off!

About The Vehicle Maintenance Engineer Role
* Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on various assets, adhering to safety standards to minimize equipment downtime.
* Manage and supervise contractors during equipment delivery and commissioning, ensuring safe working practices.
* Support the development and updating of method statements and risk assessments for maintenance and repairs.
* Lead by example to promote safe working practices among team members.
* Collaborate with stores and Asset Managers to maintain inventory and stock levels.
* Continuously seek improvements to optimize productivity and equipment performance.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
* Minimum Level 3 Qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, etc.) from the National Qualifications Framework.
* Knowledge of relevant HSE regulations, including RAMS, COSHH, and LOTO.
* Experience in equipment maintenance, ideally with knowledge of:
o Gear Boxes, Engines, Hydraulics, Lifting Equipment, Pumps, Motors, MHE
o Heavy Plant, Vehicle, and HGV maintenance
Additional Requirements:
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* A valid UK driving license or appropriate international license.
* No unspent criminal convictions.
* Compliance with safety-critical health and safety requirements, including medical and fitness checks related to weight, height, blood pressure, and hearing.
