We are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Strata team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven and passionate individual, to learn and develop as part of the Van Elle Group.
What you'll be doing:
* Working under technical leads on high profile frameworks such as Rail infrastructure projects and the newly awarded Highways and Coal Authority frameworks.
* Basic contaminated land assessment and making recommendation for site remediation using appropriate best practice and technical guidance.
* Planning, execution and reporting of Phase 1 and Phase 2 Geo-Environmental and Geotechnical site investigations.
* Delivery of geotechnical projects and reports with working knowledge of UK design codes (including EC7 Part 1, and UK annexes), standards and specifications.
* Liaising with Clients as well as scheduling laboratory testing, logging soil and rock samples and conducting soil and groundwater risk assessments.
* On-site investigation work, analysis, production and checking of technical reports and project management to ensure project KPIs and deliverables are met.
* Working collaboratively with our clients, other engineers and technicians to deliver quality factual and interpretative reports.
* Conducting oneself in a way that reflect and promotes the Van Elle company values.
* Understanding and acting in accordance with Van Elle’s policies and procedures.
* Any other tasks that you may reasonably be required to undertake.
Who we're looking for:
* Experience in using Ground Investigation Data Management software such as OpenGround/Holebase/GINT.
* Relevant University degree, BEng or BSc or equivalent in Geology, Geotechnics, Environmental Science or similar ideally working towards chartered status.
* Experience in managing medium and small ground investigation projects.
* Personable with strong communication and relationship building capabilities.
* Working knowledge of soil geotechnical properties, ground investigation techniques, exploratory hole logging/sampling and laboratory testing methodologies.
* High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to communicate effectively with management and other departments.
Other Requirements:
* Eligible to work and live in the UK.
* Flexibility to travel in the UK.
* A full driving licence, that is valid in the UK.
