Our client, an international UK freight forwarder, is looking for a Seafreight Import Export Clerk to join their team in Glasgow.
We are looking for a candidates with 'Hands on' with a good operational know-how of import/Export procedures.
Our clients is looking for someone who can handle all aspects of an Ocean import / export job role, from taking bookings, to shipping with the lines, updating shipments in Cargo Wise, creating / filling ISF - so every aspect of the job role form start to finish
As the Seafreight Import Export Clerk, you will be creating files both manually and on the computer system, and receiving / checking relevant documentation then passing on to shipping lines.
Seafreight Import Export Clerk Duties:
1. Receiving pre-alerts from overseas agents
2. Checking manifests once received
3. Dealing with customs clearance
4. Quoting rates
Skills required from Seafreight Import Export Clerk:
5. Important are excellent customer service skills and commercial sense.
6. Accuracy and attention to detail skills
7. Confident telephone manner
8. Good Administrative and MS Excel skills
This role would suit someone starting out in freight forwarding, who is looking to learn the fundamentals to build a long-term career in the industry.
In return, the successful Seafreight Import Clerk will receive a negotiable salary depending on experience and qualifications.
