Do you have a background or interest in acute general medicine? You may currently work in General Practice but would love to have more time with your patients with access to same-day investigations and urgent specialist follow up? Are you feeling the need to try something different or do you have a yearning for a new challenge alongside or instead of your current role?
We have a full time post available but would be equally happy to offer less than full time working with flexible sessions to meet your work life balance and current commitments.
As an SDEC Locum Consultant or GP with Special Interest, they would be a key member of the SDEC team, enabling the delivery of our outstanding SDEC service. As an expert in their clinical area, the post holder will practice at a highly specialised and skilled level. They will lead in developing clinical practice, knowledge, skills and their role will influence improvements in care and patient outcomes.
This is an exciting prospect for the post holder to contribute to Aneurin Bevan University Health Board's integrated Acute and Intermediate Care pathway which presents significant opportunity to improve clinical care for this patient population and treat patients requiring urgent care without the need to admit.
The post holder will be working at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr local general hospital and their job plan will be agreed jointly to meet their needs as well as those of the service.
Main duties of the job
This post will be part of the Acute Medicine Service for the Borough of Caerphilly.
The post includes:-
Provide leadership to the SDEC staff and support the ongoing development of the service
Support and deliver the current SDEC 5 day service (Monday to Friday 8am to 7pm) and further service developments.
To provide senior advice to the staff in the SDEC unit during your sessions.
To share across the SDEC consultant team the responsibility for service evaluation and development. To provide training to doctors and staff working in SDEC
To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements within the parameters of the Division's and Health Board's agreed objectives
All clinical staff are accountable and responsible for their own clinical competence and should limit their actions to those for which they are deemed competent. Clinical staff are also required to comply with the requirements of their professional organisations regarding supervision.
