The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a proactive, organised and detail-oriented professional with a passion for making workplaces thrive to join our Human Resources and Organisational Development team as a Human Resources Assistant.
This is your chance to play a vital role in supporting a positive employee experience and contributing to a high-performing HR function. As an HR Assistant, you’ll be the backbone of our team, ensuring smooth operations across HR processes. Your responsibilities will include:
* HR Administration; Maintain accurate employee records, prepare essential documents like contracts and offer letters, and keep our systems up to date.
* Recruitment & Onboarding; Coordinate recruitment activities, support onboarding processes and ensure every new hire feels welcomed and ready to succeed.
* Employee Relations; Be the 1st line for employee queries, assist in engagement initiatives, and help create a vibrant workplace culture.
* Compliance & Policy; Ensure adherence to employment laws and council policies while keeping records audit-ready.
* Operational Support; Tackle tasks like managing SharePoint pages, administering staff benefits, processing invoices, and more.
Your work will help:
* Keep employee records accurate and compliant.
* Deliver seamless recruitment and onboarding experiences.
* Foster employee satisfaction through prompt query resolution.
* Enable strategic decisions with precise HR data reporting.
* Cultivate an engaging and positive workplace culture.
To succeed in this role you will have strong organisational skills, an attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. You will also have a proactive mindset, excellent communication skills, and high integrity when handling sensitive information.
Previous roles in HR or administrative support and familiarity with HR systems would be an advantage but not essential if you have the necessary skills to succeed.
The hours of work for this position are 37 per week, working Monday to Friday. The Council currently operates a Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. This post is a hybrid role, with a combination of attendance on site and working from home (equipment will be provided).
