In this role, you will oversee the complete lifecycle of assigned projects, driving forward critical resilience and asset-focused initiatives.
The objective will be to deliver projects on time, on spec, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities of the Project Manager
1. Applying Project Management methodology and APM principles to effectively coordinate and manage a range of Non-Infrastructure projects from start to finish, including estimating, scheduling, procurement, design, site construction/installation, commissioning, and handover.
2. Effective delivery of project scopes on schedule, to specification, and within the defined budgetary requirements whilst considering innovation and opportunities are maximised to benefit solutions and outcomes based on time, cost, and quality principles.
3. Ability to track and report project expenditure and provide accurate monthly spend forecasts including project delivery progress, risks, and mitigations.
4. Ability to successfully collaborate with multi-stakeholders consisting of Internal stakeholders and external parties including customers, suppliers, designers, and contractors.
5. Ability to lead meetings and effectively manage and coordinate project teams.
6. Ability to write and review accurate reports, scopes, contracts documents, and governance papers.
7. Assist in the tendering and procurement process.
8. Ability to interpret designs, specifications, and documentation for review (civil, mechanical, and electrical advantageous).
9. Good understanding of the NEC4 to manage successful collaborative relationships whilst minimising commercial risks.
10. Positive and proactive approach to the management and communication of safe working practices and the ability to identify and mitigate risks with a practical understanding of roles and responsibilities under CDM regulations.
Skills and Qualifications Required for the Project Manager
1. Engineering/Construction or other relevant degree or HNC/D.
2. Project management qualification e.g., AMPM Project Management Certification.
3. Experience of leading the delivery of substantial and complex engineering projects.
4. Expert understanding of project delivery processes.
5. Proven experience of delivery programme governance through gateway processes.
6. Commercial awareness aligned with meeting business investment needs.
7. Experience of presenting complex and technical information to all levels of the organisation to obtain essential stakeholder buy-in.
8. Experience of proactively managing and mitigating risk.
9. Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to navigate complex challenges effectively.
10. Contract management experience (including NEC) suit of contracts and procurement options.
11. Experience of the Water Industry.
12. Previous Project Management experience (ideally with Civil Engineering/Mechanical/Electrical/Instrumentation, Control and Automation bias), and able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of project management processes.
13. Proven experience of accurate financial forecasting, cost control, and reporting.
14. Knowledge of asset management principles within the engineering sectors and understanding of technical specifications and assurance.
15. Understanding of CDM regulations including roles and responsibilities.
16. Awareness of asset investment planning methodologies and tools.
