Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services) Location: Kent, Caterham Salary: Up to £65,000 Your new company: They are a team of passionate engineers and sustainability consultants. The Role: The individual in this role would be responsible for undertaking the mechanical building services design of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems for a broad range of commercial and residential construction projects. Skills: The candidate should be capable of preparing designs and calculations in accordance with industry guides, such as CIBSE, BSRIA, and BRE, to provide consistent and accurate technical design information. This includes preparing specifications, reports, design drawings, and budget costs in accordance with design programs. The ability to undertake thermal modeling using IES-ve (or other software) is an advantage. The candidate should have experience in monitoring building services installations on-site, reporting on workmanship, and witnessing the testing of installations. Working with their Director or Group Leader, the candidate will manage and supervise projects, coordinating with other engineering disciplines. Responsibility: Design, manage, and supervise projects by establishing client briefs, technical requirements, scopes of work, cost plans, and agreed deliverables such as reports, specifications, and drawings in collaboration with the Group Leader. Agree on the level of service and project design duties with the Group Leader for each project, ensuring an understanding of the relationship with the fee. Assist the Group Leader in monitoring the engineering/CAD resource requirements for each project under their control. Carry out engineering concept design through to detailed design, tender, contract, and on-site supervision, ensuring projects adhere to design briefs and meet completion deadlines. Liaise with the design team to produce coordinated designs that are technically compliant and consistently high in quality and standard. Contribute positively to design/project meetings and maintain regular in-house design reviews and checks. Monitor and control project progress, design variations, and financial budgets. Maintain excellent client and design team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business, aiming for a Customer Satisfaction rating of 100%.
