Role Summary
The post holder will ensure the safe and effective running of the dispensary, overseeing and meeting the organisation's timeframes for medication dispatch, managing queries &
complaints.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
Managing and ensuring the safe and effective running of the dispensary
Recruiting, hiring and training staff and conducting performance reviews
Complying with WDA responsibilities
Solving pharmacy service-related patient queries and complaints
Dispensing medication
Verifying the patient's name, drug name and strength, dosage form and prescriber's authenticity on the prescription
Clinically screening prescriptions
Checking prescriptions
Answering patients' queries related to their medication
Ensure quality of medicines
Ensuring adherence to SOPs to medication handling, storage, dispensing and documentation
Confirming proper storage of medication according to their specific requirements, such as temperature, light exposure and humidity
Checking the medication name, strength, dosage instructions and quantity when receiving a batch of supply from the supplier
Addressing quality issues such as damage, illegible labels, missing information or spillage by contacting the supplier or a regulatory body
Monitoring and tracking patient refunds
Maintaining accurate records
Ensuring SOPs are kept up to date and relevant
Managing staff training and ensuring staff up to date with all SOPs
Maintaining detailed records of medication dispensed to patients, including the patient's name, drug name, dosage, duration of treatment, medication's expiry date and repeat history
Securely storing patients' prescription details, including prescriber's information, medication details, date of prescription and any special instructions
Coordinate with suppliers and vendors, such as pharmaceutical wholesalers or distributors, to ensure a consistent supply of medicines
Tracking product availability, expiry dates and shelf life and placing purchase orders
Maintaining up to date formulary for prescribers
Ensuring prices on Xero are accurate and up to date
Managing recalls for medications that are defective or potentially harmful
Staying updated with recent changes related to medication, such as changes in formulation, packaging, dosing instructions or safety alerts
Completing incident forms and updating incident register

Other duties and responsibilities
Ensuring compliance and adherence with all WDA SOPS and protocols
Assisting Pharmacy Manager in organising dispensary staff rota, holidays, performance reviews and recruitment
Attending relevant training or programmes as required by the organisation
Other duties as reasonably requested by the organisation

Ǫualifications/Registrations
Master's degree in pharmacy or equivalent
Valid GPhC registration
Experience using MS Office (Excel) required
Experience
Extensive experience within relevant Pharmacy setting, ideally within a hospital
Experience within Pharmacy Dispensing environment desirable
Experience and knowledge with regards to WDA responsibilities and SOPs
Experience helping to manage and lead a team
Interest or Background within medical cannabis desirable
