The department We are looking for an Executive to join our People & Talent (HR) team. You will support the People & Talent Partner and work closely with another People & Talent Executive supporting our 165 people across three offices. The role is varied and requires the ability to ensure routine responsibilities are managed alongside delivering project-based initiatives and responding to employee relations matters ensuring the Firm keeps its prominent position as an Employer of Choice for those seeking to work in a highly reputable forward-thinking regional law firm. Our People & Talent Team is responsible for the development and implementation of people related initiatives, policies and procedures – putting our most valuable asset, our People at the heart of what we do. Our Team supports Partners in the people management of their departments including recruitment, retention, and performance management and in the delivery of learning and development opportunities. About the role and responsibilities The successful candidate will combine a generalist ‘hands-on’ full remit HR role alongside delivering new initiatives to support our strategy of attracting talent, ongoing people development and recruitment. Working alongside the People & Talent Partner and other team-members, responsibilities include: drafting, reviewing and updating HR related practices, procedures, precedent documents and policies ensuring legislative and regulatory compliance and are fit-for-purpose advertising for, and reviewing, shortlisting and interviewing support staff candidates in liaison with Department Partners, ensuring flexible working and family leave requests are handled in accordance with policy and legislation and in a way that supports our People handling employee queries and maintaining cordial employee relations with the ability to deal with complex and challenging issues, if they arise onboarding new joiners and managing leaver processes, which includes delivering presentations, preparing bespoke induction training plans and tailored leaving processes interrogating the HR Database (Cascade) to produce routine and bespoke reports maintaining up-to-date electronic personnel records for all of our people including contractual information, correspondence and maintaining our HR Database involvement in organising learning and development/training supporting our local school/college connections for early careers by attending events and running bespoke work placement opportunities ensuring our Apprenticeship, CLC and CILEx student programmes meet the required regulatory standards and to support our students through their studies supporting the People & Talent Partner in delivering specific projects and new initiatives You will be based in our Luton office but will be required to regularly attend our Harpenden and St Albans offices.
