We are looking for a senior software engineer to help maintain and support a number of important legacy applications including our on-premise driving licence services and our drivers mainframe system.
These are important long-standing applications with key integrations to many other DVLA systems and external stakeholders that require software engineers with specialised technical skills and domain knowledge.
To help provide on-going engineering capability within this area we have a SEO Legacy & SaaS Software Engineer position. The role holder will work directly with the existing legacy engineering teams playing a critical role in maintenance and support activities for on-premise and mainframe applications and systems.
Responsibilities
Responsibility include but are not limited to:
* Demonstrate knowledge of on-premise and mainframe application design, architecture and integration patterns.
* Demonstrate understanding of distributed systems and enterprise application and network security.
* Undertake root cause analysis into transaction and application failures.
* Help in data identification and provisioning for testing.
* Work on your own initiative.
* Follow and/or contribute to the development of documented processes.
* Monitor technology performance and identify opportunities to improve it – continual improvement ethos.
* Facilitate small and large changes – working alongside DVLA’s Software Engineering community.
* Develop and maintain good relationships with stakeholders across the business.
* Develop own skills and actively coach and develop others.
* Working collaboratively within a team structure supporting and learning from other team members.
* Supporting the standardisation of documentation.
