Job summary The infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Nurse is a specialised clinician, who will, with the support of the infection prevention & control team deliver an effective infection prevention and control service for Hounslow and Ealing Community Teams within West London NHS Trust. The main focus of the work is to advise on the prevention and control of infection within the services, and to all community staff through a programme of education, audit and policy development and to respond to outbreaks of infection and incidents as they occur. Main duties of the job To act as a resource to practitioners and managers on infection prevention and control issues and communicable disease management. To support clinicians and managers in the identification of infection prevention and control risks through audit and assessment and leading the implementation of subsequent action. To keep accurate records of advice given. To maintain a high profile and advise staff and departments on practical implementation of infection prevention and control policies and guidelines. To carry out infection prevention and control audits with responsibility for the development and implementation of an annual audit programme. To provide specialist infection prevention and control advice on healthcare new builds and renovation projects, and clinical waste management, to meet national guidance and local standards. To participate in regular clinical supervision in accordance with the organisation's framework. To ensure that infection prevention and control practice is consistent with national and sector policy and evidence-based practice.
