Secom Plc are seeking a skilled and experienced mechanic for our Fleet Department located in Wateringbury, Kent. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of vehicles, focusing on high-quality workmanship and efficient problem-solving. The role will involve a career progression opportunity to shadow the Fleet Manager with a view to longer term succession planning.

The Role
Key Responsibilities:
* Expertise in Diesel Engines: Must have strong knowledge in diesel engines, especially Vauxhall or Renault. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing faults is essential.
* Experience with Main Dealers: Previous experience in main dealer settings is preferable, highlighting familiarity with regular training environments and common vehicle issues.
* Clean Driving License: A valid and clean driving license is required as the role involves testing vehicles post-repair.
* Team Collaboration: Ability to work cohesively with team members, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
* Versatility in Workshop Tasks: Willingness to undertake a variety of tasks, including van modifications, sticker removal, and occasional driving duties.
* Management Potential: Candidates aspiring for managerial roles should exhibit strong literacy, computer, interpersonal, and phone skills. The ability to work under pressure and implement directives effectively is crucial.
* Tyre Fitting Skills: Experience in tyre fitting is beneficial, along with maintaining inventory and adhering to job card systems.
* Personal Tool Collection: Possession of a personal tool chest is required, complementing the workshop's existing equipment.
The Candidate
* Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably with main dealer exposure.
* Certification in automotive repair or equivalent technical training.
* Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
* Adaptability to varied mechanical tasks.
