The Opportunity
Due to continuous project expansion, our client is currently looking to expand their dynamic team of chemical specialists and is currently looking for an experienced Senior Process Engineer to be responsible for identifying key safety improvements throughout the project lifecycle.

The Role
As a Senior Process Engineer, you will lead and deliver process engineering requirements with a particular focus on process safety to manage and minimise risk to people, the environment and the business from the manufacture and storage of large quantities of hazardous chemicals.
Your Duties and Responsibilities
1. Work with the UK regulators on major hazard issues (especially COMAH) to maintain our licence to operate.
2. Be the key point of contact with the EA in ensuring we comply with the requirements of the Environmental Permitting Regulations.
3. Identify and drive the safety process improvements with our client including alarm management.
4. Ensure that all human factors are robustly audited to ensure the risks are minimised.
5. Represent the client as part of the CIA Chlorine Network Group to ensure sharing of best practice.
6. Assess the impact of changes to our operations, both permanent and temporary, to ensure lowest possible risk.
7. Work with the JV businesses to ensure a consistent approach in Process Safety Management procedures.
8. Plan and oversee the Emergency Exercise program for the MAH scenarios.
Qualifications and Experience
1. A Chartered Chemical Engineer with significant engineering experience of major hazards operations.
2. A strong set of Process Safety engineering skills, such as Hazard Study Leader, Hazard Analysis (Fault & Event tree).
3. Bow-tie, dispersion modelling, human factors assessments, LOPA and SIL Assessments.
4. Previous experience in the development and review of Safety Reports in line with the COMAH 2015 regs.
5. Previous experience in working with the Competent Authorities (HSE & EA).
6. Strong leadership skills and ability to coach and influence at all levels.
7. Extensive understanding of relevant legislation and standards.
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

12. Thoroughness and accuracy.
The Setting for the Role
Risks and hazards are in line with working on a chemical site. These can include chemical burns, trips and falls, overexertion, cuts and scrapes, chemical exposure, inhalation of chemicals and confined spaces. A full site induction will be provided, and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
