The appointee will be expected to be competent in upper GI endoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy and in addition to attending designated training lists; they will be expected to undertake service provision lists during the week. The exact mix of endoscopy activity will depend on the previous experience and training needs of the appointee. Flexibility in backfilling lists will be expected. There will be the possibility to participate in the GI bleed on-call rota to gain experience of acute GI bleeds. There are no general medical on-call duties and no fixed ward commitments. To allow the post holder to become more experienced in advanced endoscopy techniques. This would suit someone nearing completion of training as an Out of Programme experience (OOPE). The post holder will be a part of the endoscopy training team and may be required to participate in departmental training sessions. Currently the department is working towards setting up JAG accredited courses and the post holder will help towards the delivery of this.
