We have an exciting opportunity for a Capital Reporting Financial Analyst to join our Fixed assets team, responsible for Thames Water’s £20bn Fixed and Intangible Asset Register.
The role will support the fixed assets management reporting for Thames Water and produce the capital expenditure annual return tables for the Regulatory Accounts. In addition, you will support the external audit process and develop reporting improvements on Thames’ asset register and associated annual capital programme expenditure of c.£2bn.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, the ability to build robust relationships with a variety of key stakeholders, and experience working with financial systems.
What you will be doing as Capital Reporting Financial Analyst:
* Production and interrogation of key financial controls.
* Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and processing journal entries for manager review.
* Providing data quality assurance with respect to fixed assets master data. Verifying project settlement rules, commissioning data, purpose codes, and asset classes; liaising with the business to ensure any anomalies are corrected.
* Assisting the Group Financial Accounting team where required, e.g., external audit requirements, responding to ad-hoc queries from the regulator.
* Preparation of annual capex-related regulatory reporting requirements, completing key tables and presenting to both Senior Management and External Audit.
* Production of capital finance information for the price review process, forecast, and budgets; establishing timelines, assigning deliverables, managing delivery, and liaising with capital programme team/strategic planning team where required.
* Actively explore system improvements and efficiencies regarding the management of high volumes of data.
What you should bring to the role:
* Part qualified or studying towards CIMA / ACCA / ACA (or equivalent) accountancy qualification.
* Experience in Excel and data manipulation, using strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
* A positive, results-driven mindset with good communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
* Experience in SAP ERP and HFM accounting software is highly desirable.
* Experience of working in a utilities/water/regulatory organization is desirable but not essential.
