As Quality Operations Manager, you will be accountable for ensuring all quality operations and systems are effectively managed, and any non-conformances are closed out effectively. Working in the Aerospace industry, you need to be forward-thinking and willing to work to strict industry and customer standards. You will be required to oversee and drive the Quality Management System and activities to ensure all processes and operations meet regulatory and industry standards. You’ll be responsible for leading, coaching, and training the Colwyn Bay Quality Team, which includes Quality Assurance engineers and Quality Control inspectors, to ensure all onsite quality operations are compliant, up to date, and relevant. As Quality Manager, you will work in conjunction with the Operations Manager, Global Director of Quality based in the US, and Managing Director to set and monitor key metrics on operational performance. As part of the UK Leadership team, you will be expected to lead by example and create a concierge experience for internal and external customers. You may be required on occasion to work out of hours to resolve or support any quality issues locally or at Global.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Investigate and implement corrective and preventive action for non-conforming material.
* Ensure our Quality Systems, processes, and practices meet regulatory and customer requirements.
* Co-ordinate and oversee the maintenance, upgrade, and improvement of the quality management system and assurance procedures.
* Direct and host all third-party, certification, and customer audits.
* Plan and execute internal audit programs with the Global AT community.
* Facilitate and manage Quality training and development across the UK.
* Review capacity against forecast and ensure resources are available.
* Develop an efficient and robust training and certification system for inspectors, laboratory, and chemistry personnel.
* Develop and maintain detailed process instructions for inspection processes.
* Implement new inspection technologies to expand capacity and efficiency.
* Oversee the ongoing deployment of Business Central as our ERP system.
* Ensure Metallography Laboratory practices are correct and in accordance with customer requirements.
* Provide actionable data to the business regarding product, process quality, and delivery metrics.
* Direct Quality Engineer activities per business requirements.
* Line Manager for QC Inspectors and Labs Supervisor.
* Establish goals for continuous improvement.
* Maintain strong customer relationships with respect to quality.
Skills
* Strong knowledge of NADCAP, ISO 9001 Quality management systems.
* Experience of auditing both regulatory, customer, and industry requirements.
* Organised and works well under pressure.
* Experience of managing a team.
* Aerospace industry knowledge desirable.
