Governance Lawyer Needed - £60ph (Ref: 0008 EC0C / 1)
The Senior Lawyer (Governance) role requires the delivery of consistent, high-quality legal advice and, where appropriate, briefings and training to clients in relation to the law within the team’s practice areas. It also involves the development of associated policies, procedures, and guidance. In addition, it will require the preparation of reports to the Client, the Executive, and committees.
The successful candidate will demonstrate relevant experience and expertise in dealing with a broad range of complex, high-value, and sensitive cases relating to local government/public administration law (including local authority constitutions and the operation of executive arrangements), information governance matters (including data protection, Freedom of Information, and the Environmental Information Regulations), and elections law.
The successful candidate must be a qualified solicitor, barrister, or Chartered Lawyer/Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, holding a current practising certificate.
The position is advertised on the basis of a standard 35-hour working week, Monday to Friday (with flexibility as to how those hours are worked). Consideration will be given to candidates wishing to work fewer hours/days per week (to a minimum of 21 hours / 3 days a week).
