The salary for this role is £40,609 (inclusive of a Market Premium Payment (MPP)), and onsite working is expected for 4 days a week.
Job Description
This role can be based at can any of the following sites: Culham, Oxfordshire.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.
The Role
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy. The position of Process Operations Engineer sits within the TFC Tritium Services Group. Our facilities are responsible for recycling tritium and the detritiation of exhaust gases from the JET Fusion Reactor or tritium containing experimental gloveboxes. The Group seeks engineers to complete work to a high standard according to established technical management processes and deliver solutions of engineering integrity commensurate with nuclear operations.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Lead the operation, maintenance, training, and the long-term development of a process plant sub-system or project area.
- Main point of contact for activities and projects associated with a process plant sub-system.
- Prepare Work Control Packs (WCP), including Risk Assessments (RA) and Method Statement (MS) documentation for work involving breaches of primary and secondary tritium containments.
- Identify and recommend areas of improvement to process plant systems. This should encompass but is not limited to, practical application of process plant maintenance and changes to operational practices and methodologies.
- Maintain system records and design baseline including design, construction, operation, function via manuals, handbooks, maintenance history, P&IDs, work control packs and associated documentation.
- You will be appointed as at least one of; Nominated Source Holder (NSH), Area Waste Officer (AWO), Radiological Protection Supervisor (RPS) and/or Radiological Materials Co-ordinator (RMC). All necessary training for this will be provided by the UKAEA.
- Test and commission systems ensuring compliance with UKAEA site policies, national and international legislated safety requirements and the recording of associated safety certification.
Qualifications
Essential
- Qualified to HNC/Degree level (or equivalent) in an engineering or scientific discipline.
- Prior experience in the design, commissioning and/or operation of experimental equipment and/or plant.
- Demonstrable experience with document management systems and/or technical control documentation
- Able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Good planning, organising and time management skills including the ability to prioritise the workload
Desirable
- Understanding of radioactive materials or other hazardous materials including procedural and safety requirements.
- Demonstrable experience of team supervision.
- Experience of quality management systems in a technical environment.
