HOURS: 37 ½ hours per wk – Mon – Thurs 0815 – 1700/ Fri 0815 – 1245 (Overtime hours possible)
LOCATION: Norwich, NR7 (NO hybrid or remote working)
About the role:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT Support Assistant to join our internal IT team. This role will be the first point of contact for all IT-related issues, providing essential support to our employees and enhancing their productivity. This role will also include troubleshooting basic hardware, software, and network problems, guiding users through problem resolution, and escalating more complex issues to the IT team. You will have the opportunity to work closely with the IT team on various projects and help upkeep our systems and networks.
This role requires strong communication skills, a customer-focused attitude, and technical proficiency to handle a wide range of technical queries.
Main Responsibilities:
* Identify and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, networks, and user accounts, escalating more complex issues to the IT team.
* Assisting with the installation, setup, and configuration of new hardware, software, and peripherals.
* Guiding users through simple troubleshooting steps, providing instructions, and answering technical questions.
* Coordinating and updating the status of outstanding issues to ensure smooth issue resolution and communication.
* Ensuring that users’ systems are up to date with the latest security updates.
* Assisting with new starters account setup, password resets, and other user management tasks.
* Assist the IT team in the implementation and delivery of key projects and processes.
* Educate and provide user guidance on the best IT practices as well as security and system usage.
* Participate in regular training to stay updated on new technologies and tools.
* Any other such duties that may be reasonably compatible with the nature and scope of the role.
About the person:
To be a successful candidate for this role, you must be able to demonstrate the below attributes and skillsets:
Qualifications/ Education:
* Qualified to a minimum of a Level 3 standard (A Levels, NVQs or equivalent) in a related discipline or proven experience in a similar IT role.
Technical Skills/ Experience:
* Familiarity with operating systems (for example Windows 11 Pro, Windows Server 2019, Office 365, etc).
* Understanding of network protocols and basic networking concepts.
* A foundational understanding of hardware and software.
Personal Attributes/ Person Specification:
* Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
* Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
* Customer-focused with the ability to manage user expectations and provide clear instructions.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
* Be able to learn new skills quickly, and have a friendly, flexible attitude to your work.
