An opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Stoma Nurse Specialist position within the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, supporting the Colorectal Service across various sites. Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
* Clinical Expertise: Provide clinical care and advice to patients with stomas, particularly those undergoing bowel resections, cystectomies, and stoma formation surgeries.
* Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with medical staff, dietitians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to manage patient care.
* Autonomous Practice: Lead nurse-led clinics and participate in clinical audits to ensure high standards of care.
* Education and Training: Provide education to patients, staff, and the wider multidisciplinary team, across multiple sites.
* Patient Support: Offer ongoing support to patients with established stomas and refer them to community services as needed.
Key Requirements:
* Experience: Extensive experience in Stoma nursing, with the ability to maintain and develop expertise in various aspects of stoma care.
* Communication Skills: Strong communication skills are essential to interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams effectively.
* Autonomy and Leadership: Ability to work autonomously, providing leadership and guidance within a small, highly skilled team.
* Cross-Site Flexibility: Work across different sites within the Trust, providing flexibility to cover any gaps within the team and ensuring continuity of care for patients across all service locations.
* Trauma and Complex Care: Involvement in managing complex cases, particularly at the Aintree site, which is a trauma centre.
