An exciting opportunity has arisen for a SCPHN School Nurse to join our team in Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board as School Nurse Immunisation Co-ordinator.
The school-based immunisation programme is one of the 4 standards that sit within the School Nursing Framework (WG, 2017) and is a core contact identified within the Health Child Wales Programme 2 (WG, 2024). This post is dedicated to support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the school-based immunisation programme in alignment with national and local strategic priorities. Working in partnership with others to reduce inequalities and improve vaccination uptake, ensuring school-aged children and young people are immunised and protected against preventable diseases regardless of setting.
We are looking for an individual who has an innovative, creative, and can-do approach to overcoming challenges that can arise from such a large immunisation programme. A broad knowledge of childhood immunisations is essential, along with a wider understanding of the health needs of the school-aged population within the health board and Wales.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide visible, professional, and compassionate leadership in, and clinical expertise to the School Nursing team, in alignment with the health board values.
The successful candidate will be required to work in close partnership with the School Nursing team, health board colleagues, and partnership agencies to support the inclusion and equity of immunisations offered to school-aged children across the HB.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading on the planning, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of the school-aged vaccination programme across the CTM, as well as leading on governance and service improvement of immunisation delivery, to provide quality assurance of immunisations delivered by the School Nursing team.
