BMG Research part of RSK Group is a leading social research and analytics agency operating primarily in the UK. We partner with clients to inform decision making, shape policy and guide investment, leading to better public services, positive customer experiences and a fair and equitable society.
We are now hiring for Graduate Research Executives to join the team in either Birmingham or London on our Graduate Scheme.
The Graduate Scheme and Structure:
The programme lasts 12 months and combines on-the-job and formal training. The formal training covers a mix of research skills and essential communication skills.
All members benefit from being part of a tight-knit graduate cohort and the RSK Young Professionals community. Members are also supported in moving towards professional qualifications.
Your career development path
During the scheme, you will attend ‘training away days’, developing both your research skills and essential communication skills and taking part in career development workshops. You will receive on-the job technical-based learning, and will be guided by your line manager, along with your buddy and the early careers team. You’ll gain experience across the different teams in BMG, including public policy, public perceptions, resident and customer experience, employee research, evaluation, business research and crime and justice.
Key Responsibilities:
* Designing research materials e.g. questionnaires and topic guides
* Carrying out background research to support proposal and report writing
* Preparing project materials including job specification forms, coding and data analysis specifications
* Assisting with qualitative research, including preparation of materials, analysis and fieldwork
* Client servicing and management
* Day-to-day project management; including planning, problem solving and delivery with supervision
* Analysing and investigating data to uncover impactful insights
* Manipulating data e.g. checking, cross tab, formatting and charting data
* Reporting results in a clear, concise and usable way
* Developing thought leadership articles
Person Specification:
* Minimum of a 2:1 undergraduate degree or qualification. Relevant degree disciplines include social sciences, humanities, psychology and business and economics, or any degree that incorporates the analysis and evaluation of data or information
* Excellent written and verbal communication abilities accompanied by good numerical skills
* An ability to write around data/results (to tell an accurate and interesting story)
* An interest in, and knowledge of society and current affairs
* An understanding of data and statistics
* Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
* A willingness to take on challenging tasks and learn rapidly
* A desire to pursue a career in social research in a fun and exciting setting
* Excellent eye for detail
* A full working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Effective and efficient time management
* A keen eye for detail – spotting and correcting errors
* Some knowledge of primary research methods is desirable

* Up to £27,500, per annum depending on experience
