About the Role
As a Specialist Teacher for Students with Mental Health Needs, you will play a vital role in fostering a nurturing and structured learning environment where students feel safe, supported, and motivated to succeed. You will work closely with students experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related conditions, and other emotional or psychological difficulties, tailoring your teaching approach to meet their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that cater to a range of learning styles and emotional needs.
* Develop and implement strategies to support students experiencing mental health challenges, ensuring a trauma-informed and person-centered approach.
* Create a calm, supportive, and inclusive classroom that promotes emotional well-being and resilience.
* Monitor student progress and well-being, providing regular feedback and adapting strategies as needed.
* Foster strong, positive relationships with students, helping them to build confidence, self-esteem, and coping skills.
What We’re Looking For
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
* Experience working with students with mental health needs, SEN (Special Educational Needs), or additional learning needs.
* A strong understanding of mental health conditions and the impact they have on learning and development.
* Excellent communication, patience, and adaptability.
* A passion for creating a safe, supportive, and empowering learning environment.
* Knowledge of trauma-informed practices, restorative approaches, and therapeutic strategies is highly desirable.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
