Introduction
The UK engineering team works as an integrated part of the Worldwide Engineering team consisting of over 1000 engineers from all automated handling disciplines. An Engineer joining the UK team has the opportunities and potential to join a wide and diverse range of projects. We are looking for an Engineer with the passion and willingness to engineer and develop designs for projects, the ability to follow challenging standards and overall to add value to our customers at home and abroad.
Role Responsibilities
As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will support our automation projects by creating the electrical circuits and layouts for our intralogistics equipment and systems. The area of work is of a specialist/technical nature and the person fulfilling the role should be friendly and have the ability to communicate facts within the required area of knowledge and expertise. Standard operating procedures are important aspects of this role and as such, it will require an individual who is persistent, organised, structured, self-controlled, and kind. The person fulfilling this role should be consistent in approach, analytical, sensitive, precise, logical, and systematic.
Your responsibilities and activities will be:
1. Read the user requirements, analyse the feasibility, and consider technical standards.
2. Agree in consultation with the Project Leader on the necessary engineering activities for the deliverables and planning details.
3. Report progress and deviations of worked hours to the Project Leader.
4. Participate in decision making with all the relevant disciplines regarding the electrical components and interfaces to be used.
5. Design, specify, and calculate the complete electrical controls installation (including the supply and power distribution) consisting of cabinets, field wiring, cable trunking and mechanical supports for the electrical components.
6. Create power calculations (required max. power), cable calculations for the cable layout drawings and selectivity determination.
7. Design controls drawings, layouts and produce all information necessary for manufacturers, installation managers, special design engineers, wiring contractors, and purchasing department.
8. Design according to known procedures, rules, and follow UK legislation like the supply of machinery regulations where applicable.
9. Produce engineering instructions.
10. Instruct subcontractors on the working principles of the hardware (drawings and documentation).
11. Support subcontractors with problem analyses and engineering changes/reviews.
