Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Systems Programmer to support and upgrade the z/OS operating system and Independent Software Vendor (ISV) products, primarily from IBM and Computer Associates (CA). The ideal candidate will have strong Parallel Sysplex expertise, extensive experience in installing IBM and CA products, and a background in managing large-scale mainframe environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage and upgrade the z/OS operating system and associated IBM/CA ISV products.
2. Implement software changes and enhancements while ensuring system stability.
3. Parallel Sysplex Management:
1. Optimize Parallel Sysplex configurations to enhance performance and resilience.
4. Install and maintain multiple IBM and CA products, not just a limited selection.
5. Incident Resolution & Troubleshooting:
1. Provide advanced problem resolution and support system-wide troubleshooting efforts.
6. Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:
1. Work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure seamless system operations.
2. Translate complex technical information into meaningful insights for various audiences.
7. Be available for off-hours support when required for software implementations and critical updates.
Required Skills & Experience
1. Minimum 10 years of experience in z/OS systems programming.
2. Strong Parallel Sysplex expertise.
3. Extensive hands-on experience installing and managing IBM & CA products.
4. Proficiency in the following mainframe technologies:
1. z/OS, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL, RACF.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
6. Strong written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
Preferred Skills (Not Mandatory but Advantageous)
1. ACF2 Security tool.
2. GDPS (Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex).
3. RACF administration.
4. Rexx scripting.
5. Performance & Monitoring Tools: Omegamon, RMF, SMF, SAS.
