A vacancy has arisen for experienced technicians to apply for this post which will be based at King George Hospital in Goodmayes.
Main duties of the job
* Participation in a ward based pharmacy service, assisting the clinical pharmacist by undertaking clinical duties e.g. PODS, drug history taking, medicines reconciliation, discharge counselling etc in line with the recent NPSA guidance.
* To help develop, monitor and audit the clinical technician input on wards.
* To carry out regular, planned Controlled Drug checks on the wards according to guidelines and agreed procedures.
* To work as an Accredited Checking Technician in the dispensary, supervising technicians and assistants in the absence of the senior dispensary staff.
Minimum Requirements
You must be a qualified Pharmacy Technician, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
You must be able to demonstrate good organisational and problem solving skills and you must also have accreditation for dispensary checking and ward-based, clinical activities.
Person specification
Education/Qualifications
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a UK Pharmacy Technician.
* Level 3 QCF Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences (BTEC) or equivalent.
Experience
* Experience of being in a Medicines Management role e.g. Assessment of Patients own medicines, drug history taking and medicines reconciliation.
* Experience of working in a ward environment.
Skills/Abilities
* Dealing with nursing/medical staff.
* Dealing with patients and the public.
