Job Overview
OPG is looking for a dedicated, results driven and dynamic professional to join our Darlington Turbine and Generator Refurbishment (TGR) Design Engineering team for a task specific role of Design Engineer (DE) located in Courtice, ON.
The Design Engineer will have the opportunity to contribute to OPG by preparing, updating and issuing Design Manuals for the Darlington Turbine and Generator Systems to reflect the current design or conditions of these systems after the modifications that were completed during the Refurbishment of each unit.
Key Accountabilities:
– Follow OPG Engineering Change process (ECC) to prepare and update design manuals for the Darlington Turbine and Generator systems to reflect the modifications done during Refurbishment
– Provide high quality engineering deliverables that meet all applicable codes standards, and OPG procedures, and are free of technical errors.
– Preparation, verification, approval and issuance of the design manuals. Will require updating legacy design manuals or preparing new design manuals based on the design inputs provided.
– Issuance of final design manuals that will reflect Turbine and Generator as-built systems and address all known deficiencies in the design basis.
– Gather input from stakeholder departments and agencies to ensure design inputs and requirements are captured and detailed in the design manuals
– Understand impacts on cost and schedule and provide support to minimize impacts driving projects
– Collaborate with stakeholders, consultants and contractors as required
– Support any other design engineering work as required for Darlington Design Engineering team for the TGR Project
Qualifications
Education:
– 4-year university degree in Electrical/Instrument Control/Software/Mechanical/Civil. Other disciplines may be considered.
– Knowledge of the Turbine and Generators control systems. Knowledge of the Darlington Turbine and Generator Refurbishment (TGR) Project would be an asset
– Professional Engineer Designation an asset
Qualifications:
– Design experience required, preferably with OPG or Nuclear Industry
– OPG Design Engineer qualification required
– Knowledge of OPG’s ECC Process (Engineering Change Control)
– Previous experience with preparing or updating design manuals
– Knowledge of the turbine and generator controls systems and equipment. Knowledge of the Darlington TGR project would be an asset
– Have strong written and verbal communication skills
– Experience and ability as a team player to understand and manage interrelationships of various internal and external groups
– Proven track record on delivering results
– Strong in understanding, executing and following governance and procedures with a questioning and analytical attitude/approach under minimum supervision
– Candidate must be motivated to use technology and online platforms
