Commissioning Engineer
Stone (UK wide travel)
I am currently working with a systems integrator who are looking for an enthusiastic & driven Commissioning Engineer to test and commission electrical transmission Substation Control Systems (SCS); from minor modifications and additions through to complete replacements. This role is suitable for existing Commissioning Engineers or Test Engineers with a desire to move into site-based commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform site acceptance testing and commissioning in accordance with approved documentation, both in a factory setting and at client sites.
2. Provide technical supervision of installation activities on client sites.
3. Ensure all installation, testing, and commissioning tasks are completed according to agreed technical procedures, methods, and standards.
4. Manage and organize the project commissioning file.
5. Update and mark-up drawings and schematics when changes are identified during testing and commissioning.
6. Assist in the development and preparation of commissioning/test documentation.
7. Deploy configuration files to SCADA BCUs, RTUs, IEDs, and network devices (e.g., Ethernet switches), followed by verification.
8. Prepare site materials, commissioning spares, and test documentation prior to project site delivery.
Essential Requirements:
1. Qualifications or experience in Electrical Engineering.
2. Solid understanding of testing and commissioning methods.
3. Experience in fault-finding for electrical/electronic systems.
4. Knowledge of communication networks and protocols (e.g., Ethernet over fiber optic, serial copper).
5. Awareness of electrical safety and isolation control (LOTO).
6. Proficient in Microsoft Office for documentation purposes.
7. Proficient in deploying configuration files and verifying electrical devices.
8. Possession of a valid full driving license (UK or convertible to UK).
Desirable Skills:
1. Experience in developing or contributing to commissioning or test specifications and plans.
2. Completed BS#removed#th Edition course (or earlier version).
3. Completed C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing course.
4. Previous work experience on National Grid Substations.
5. Familiarity with Substation Secondary Systems.
6. Experience with industrial SCADA systems.
7. Possession of a National Grid Commissioning Passport and/or knowledge of National Grid procedures and specifications.
8. Recognized as a National Grid Competent Person.
9. Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD for minor changes or drawing navigation.
