Our client is seeking an Engineering Manager to join their dynamic team. The successful individual will be part of, and manage, a small team of Engineers. This team designs/develops new products and maintains the designs, drawings, and product documentation of new and existing group products. In the capacity of a qualified Engineer, this role will also support the business in providing solutions and advice for issues that may arise.
About the Role
As a technically competent mechanical engineer with extensive CAD experience, and a focus on design and development and project management, the successful applicant will produce drawings and CAD models of existing and new products, as well as building and testing of new designs and prototypes as required.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Resource
o A full understanding of the company’s products to act as a resource for technical assistance and product application advice, assisting the Sales Department when supporting new product adoption.
2. New Product Developments
o Manage new product developments to agreed timescales and budgets.
o Adhere to the company’s product development procedures and complete required documents.
o Create general arrangement and detail drawings in AutoCAD/SolidWorks.
o Generate creative ideas/solutions and collaborate with others to advance the company’s products.
o Create and contribute concept ideas for new products and improvements to existing products.
o Deliver successful new product developments on time and on budget.
3. Prototype Manufacture and Testing
o Arrange manufacture of prototypes through the in-house factory or external suppliers and be present and instrumental in their build and test.
4. Testing
o Devise appropriate test regimes, perform, and document product testing to ensure products are reliable before launch.
5. Supporting and Leading Others
o Support other designers in your department.
o Ensure they are performing to expected levels and lead them with your engineering knowledge and experience to enhance their skill set over time.
o Engage and work with subcontract designers/agencies as required.
6. Progress Reports
o Complete information for each project's progress in terms of both technical and financial measures, to be submitted as requested.
7. Ad hoc Design Work
o Non-project-based work, prioritised by Management, may be required.
8. Product Documentation
o Create and maintain product risk assessments and manuals/technical documentation as required.
9. Quality
o Ensure your department adheres to the correct processes and procedures in accordance with the business’s quality system.
10. Sales Support
o Support the adoption and sales of any new products developed.
11. Site Visits
o Occasional site visits will be required.
Qualifications:
* Degree qualified, 10 years + design experience, Driving Licence.
Hours: 37.5 p/week – 7.30-4, M-T & 7.30-1 Friday
