EDI Officer
Band 5, Full Time, Permanent
The Equality Diversity & Inclusion Officer will work under the supervision and guidance of the Head of Diversity, Inclusion to support the delivery of the EDI Strategy. This is with the aim of enabling all our people to have a positive experience of work, particularly those with protected characteristics as defined in the Equality Act 2010; to ensure our people are represented across all levels of the organisation; to develop a culture which is free Excellent care with compassion from bullying, harassment or discrimination; to support the health and wellbeing of our people and to ensure everyone is supported to achieve their full potential at work.
They will be required to support the Head of EDI and the EDI Officer to establish and implementation of a range of interventions, collecting and analysing data to support reporting and evaluation purposes. They will be required to co-ordinate and facilitate inclusion events and to develop resources and communications to support and promote interventions across all available media channels.

• Support the implementation of the EDI Strategy and Action Plan for the Trust.
• Work with the Head of EDI and EDI manager to assist in the design and deliver of initiatives throughout the year to support the inclusion agenda at local level.
• Support the delivery and coordination of specific events either internally, such as staff engagement forums, annual Valuing Diversity conference, celebration of diversity events across the protected characteristic throughout the year, such as LGBT History Month, Black History Month, Disability Awareness, International Women’s day and various others.
EDI is a small informal team with a big agenda. Team working is essential to the delivery of the EDI Strategy. However the post holder is expected to be proactive and self organised. We work in a non hierarchical way and so information and knowledge is shared. Our weekly team meeting sets the agenda, timetable and expectations and responsibility for our work.

• Support the implementation of the EDI Strategy and Action Plan for the Trust.
• Work with the Head of EDI and EDI manager to assist in the design and deliver of initiatives throughout the year to support the inclusion agenda at local level.
• Support the delivery and coordination of specific events either internally, such as staff engagement forums, annual Valuing Diversity conference, celebration of diversity events across the protected characteristic throughout the year, such as LGBT History Month, Black History Month, Disability Awareness, International Women’s day and various others.
• Take minutes as and when needed at staff forums and EDI strategic meetings.
• Set up and deliver training or teaching sessions to support and promote the delivery of EDI.
•• Keep up to date with major changes in National legislation and initiatives, to widen your knowledge of current EDI issues and changes in the NHS.
• Liaise with the corporate communications team, to develop communication plans and resources to support events or interventions.
• Produce and implement regular internal communications to support inclusion activities and utilise a range of channels including face-to-face, intranet, multimedia and social media.
• Maintain Equality and Inclusion pages on the internal and external website.
• Respond to all enquiries either written or verbal in a professional, courteous and timely manner ensuring a high standard of customer service is provided.
• Maintain effective working relationships with other members of the department, other employees within the Trust and external organisations to deliver a professional service focused on achieving a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Engage staff and influence colleagues to be inclusive and supportive, by working with colleagues in different roles and professions across the Trust
• Provide advice and information to support decision-making and analysis.
• Ensure that complex and/or sensitive information is clearly explained and respected; enquiries are handled courteously and confidentially.
• Attend and contribute to relevant forums and committees as required.
• Organise, prioritise and adjust own workload in a manner which maintains and promotes quality
• Undertake email management on behalf of the Equality and Inclusion generic inbox.
