The Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager by taking a lead in the daily operations of The Piano Works, ensuring an exceptional guest experience, driving financial success, and leading a high-performing team. The role demands a dynamic and hands-on leader with a strong background in hospitality, live music venues, and customer service excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
* Take the lead in the smooth running of the venue, ensuring high standards of service, safety, and compliance to allow the General Manager to focus on the entertainment and marketing side of the business
* Responsible for developing and implementing operational procedures to enhance efficiency and customer experience.
* Ensure the venue meets all licensing, health & safety, and compliance regulations.
* Work closely with kitchen, bar, and floor teams to maintain high service and product standards.
* Assist in coordinating with the entertainment and technician team to ensure seamless live music programming and execution.
Financial & Business Performance
* Support revenue growth through effective sales strategies, promotions, and upselling techniques.
* Assist in managing budgets, controlling costs, and maximising profitability.
* Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and suggest improvements.
* Ensure accurate cash handling, stock management, and supplier negotiations in collaboration with the General Manager.
Leadership & Team Development
* Assist in recruiting, training, and developing a motivated, customer-focused team.
* Foster a positive and inclusive work culture that encourages teamwork and excellence.
* Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and training sessions in support of the General Manager.
* Lead by example, maintaining high levels of professionalism and energy on the floor.
Customer Experience & Brand Standards
* Support a best-in-class guest experience, ensuring all patrons receive outstanding service.
* Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements.
* Maintain The Piano Works unique identity, ensuring all interactions reflect the brands ethos and values.
* Handle customer complaints effectively, ensuring swift and satisfactory resolutions.
Marketing & Event Coordination
* Work with the General Manager to develop promotional campaign and event ideas.
* Support social media and brand awareness initiatives.
* Engage with corporate and private event clients to maximise bookings and revenue.
* Ensure all events run smoothly and deliver a high standard of execution.
Experience
* Proven experience as an Assistant General Manager or similar leadership role in a high-volume bar, restaurant, or live music venue.
* Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, and cost control.
* Excellent leadership and team management skills.
* Passion for live music and hospitality, with a guest-centric approach.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
* Knowledge of licensing, health & safety, and food & beverage regulations.
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle high-pressure situations.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
