We are looking for a self-motivated individual with comprehensive experience in the Building Control sector. The ideal candidate will bring their expertise to support the daily operations of our established team and help adapt our services to meet the upcoming changes mandated by the Building Safety Bill.
This role will ideally suit someone who is already experienced operating at a Principal/Team Leader level but applications may be considered from those with experience at Senior/Area Surveyor level looking for career progression to a leadership role.
You’ll become part of a proactive, customer-focused Building Control team that has played a vital role in exciting projects, including our multi-million-pound town center redevelopment, significant healthcare upgrades, and numerous large housing projects across the borough.
Located in Bracknell Forest, a thriving community in the heart of Berkshire and just a short journey from London, you will encounter a diverse mix of residential and commercial challenges that offer rewarding opportunities for professional growth.
Our service emphasises an onsite presence and exceptional customer care, ensuring we are always accessible and flexible in our approach.
Having been recognised as the Council of the Year in 2018, you’ll join a dedicated team committed to collaborating with construction customers to enhance local safety and contribute to the ongoing regeneration of our town, transforming it into a premier shopping destination and creating modern housing solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
* Supervise and manage team members and their caseloads on a day-to-day basis
* Assist and promote the education and training of other team members to enhance their skills
* Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Bill through continuous improvement and competence.
* Deputising for the Head of Building Control and Land Charges when required.
* Regularly assess service-related systems and procedures, making necessary updates to align with the latest policies and legal requirements.
Benefits:
* Generous annual leave of 28 days increasing to 33 days after 3 years’ service (pro rata for part time).
* Annual leave purchase policy.
* Opportunities for flexible and agile working, to support our employees’ work-life balance.
* An inclusive and social working environment with a variety of staff networks including sports and social clubs.
* Enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption and fostering leave.
* Career development through internal and external training opportunities.
* Life insurance cover (linked to the pension scheme).
* A great office location next to travel links and the regenerated town centre.
* Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to support employees’ health and wellbeing.
* Discounted leisure centre and gym membership.
