Teaching Artist in Residence – Tipton, Ind.

Tipton Public Arts Commission (TPAC) seeks a teaching artist or artist team of any creative art form (i.e., visual, music, dance, literary, film, theatre, etc.) to host several arts activities with the Tipton, Ind. community. The goal of the residency is to build new creative skills, encourage intergenerational experiences, and facilitate community reflection.
The artist will:
1. Engage with local youth and/or senior adults 8-10 times. This may include youth club visits, senior community visits, workshops with local art/performing clubs or groups, or other special activities.
2. Offer 8-10 workshops or events at the Tipton County Public Library.
3. Participate in 2-4 local gatherings, including one artist talk/presentation about themself and their work.
4. In collaboration with TPAC, encourage community reflection, document creative activities to be celebrated at a culminating community event. This may include a curated show of artist and community works, storytelling night, or other special activity.
The artist will be compensated $8,000. This fee is intended to be inclusive of the artists’ professional services and covers all materials, equipment, travel costs, and any other expenses related to the activities.
The artist will work closely with the Tipton Public Arts Commission to finalize and manage all details and logistics of the activities. The artist is welcome but not required to temporarily reside in Tipton during the residency period. The compensation intends to cover the artists’ travel or lodging costs, but artists needing further accommodations or support are encouraged to reach out with questions or to discuss alternate options (i.e. a local host family, etc.)—don’t let this stop you from applying!

1. Artistic resume (relevant work, projects, education, skills, and experiences)
2. Portfolio and/or 5-10 artistic work samples (files or links are acceptable)
3. Photos or videos of past art workshops or community activities that you have led
Finalist candidates will be asked for a Zoom interview and contact information for one reference (past workshop partners/clients or community project collaborators preferred).
