The King’s Rossetti Academic (US Universities) works as part of our outstanding higher education team to support our growing number of pupils who are applying to US universities.
The precise nature of the role will be shaped in accordance with departmental needs to fit the strengths of the candidate appointed, and we hope, too, that the appointed candidate will relish the opportunity to shape and extend our provision further.
Core responsibilities are likely to include:
* Providing individual specialist advice on Common App and supplemental essay writing to pupils
* Providing strategic advice on US applications
* Arranging visits from US college admissions officers and speakers, including the annual US college fair
We expect employment to typically be between one and two days per week during term time, and so fit well alongside current research or study commitments.
Person Specification
Essential:
* A good undergraduate degree from a US higher education institution
* A keen interest in the evolving US higher education landscape
* An ability to work well with others, and to demonstrate initiative
* Excellent communication, organisation and listening skills
Desirable:
* Prior experience in a secondary school environment
* Prior experience in advising applicants to US universities, including sports scholarships
* A willingness and/or ability to support applications to Canada and/or Europe
* A willingness to contribute to the school’s partnerships programme, for instance supporting our partnership with Harris Academy Wimbledon sixth form and/or our international schools programme
* A willingness to contribute to the school’s academic enrichment programme in their own specialist subject
