The Community Food Bank of Central Alabama Director of Operations provides strategic leadership and overall management of all activities in the Operations Department. This position focuses on the execution of day-to-day goals and ensures delivery, both short and long-term, that complies with the mission and direction statement, measures progress against goals and evaluates and utilizes the organization’s capacity to deliver outstanding services. This position is also responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining plans and processes for the efficient operation of product procurement, receiving, reclamation, safe food handling, inventory control, logistics, fleet management, and safety. Additionally, this position is responsible for the measurement of all processes, both internal and external, generating reports, analyzing trends, and synthesizing and interpreting complex data in all operational areas. The Director of Operations will establish and maintain a reputation for operational excellence driven by a culture of productivity and continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Motivates and leads a high-performing team whose responsibilities encompass operations, distribution, transportation, and warehouse operations.
2. Provides strong leadership for the department to attain efficiency and effectiveness in meeting distribution goals.
3. Administers and ensures that Operations is always in an “audit ready” status. Reviews operating results, compared with established objectives, and implements appropriate measures to enhance outcomes.
4. Establishes and promotes best practices and innovation and continually improves performance.
5. Provides direction and oversight to ensure the flow of daily operational activities, creating optimal production, and meeting and/or exceeding organizational goals.
6. Ensures optimal internal and external customer service.
7. Oversees research, analysis, trends, and evaluations for all aspects of operations in support of strategic planning and day-to-day problem solving.
8. Implements operational processes that enhance organizational effectiveness and visibility of CFB, including increasing and improving distribution and logistics efficiency and allocation standards to efficiently support partner agencies.
9. Implements processes and systems that will ensure the optimum utilization of available resources, including the design and implementation of a metrics-driven culture that quickly responds to opportunities to improve existing services and create new services.
10. Oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategies and activities including data collection and analysis of performance metrics, technology, systems, equipment, logistics, policies and procedures, workforce planning, and training efforts designed to accommodate and support the rapid growth objectives of the organization.
Education and Experience
1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
2. 8+ years related experience in distribution/supply chain management, nonprofit management, and/or food banking.
3. Class A or B CDL experience is a plus but not required.
Skills and Abilities
1. Proficient use of the Food Bank’s online ordering system and inventory control software system along with fleet management systems.
2. Proficiency using Microsoft Office Professional Suite including Excel, Outlook, Word, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
3. Proven track record of success working in a busy warehouse environment, meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities.
4. Ability to understand and interpret reporting and compliance requirements of various programs.
5. Proven leadership and management skills; including building effective teams, strategic and conflict management, coaching/mentoring, forecasting, and budgeting.
6. Strategic thinker with demonstrated experience elevating the work of a team through process improvement, planning, and goal setting.
7. Excellent customer service skills.
8. Must have strengths in leadership, training, motivation, and communication.
9. Reliability, consistency, and dependability are required.
The starting salary for the Director of Operations is $80,000 - $100,000 annually.
