We have an exciting opportunity here at Northern Gas Networks to recruit a Head of Treasury in our established Leeds team. This role has come about due to the retirement of a well-respected long term staff member, who will have the time and scope to help you fully develop into the role.
Ideally you will be FCT, AMCT, ACA or ACCA qualified and will have either led a treasury function as a head of, or, looking for a first move into a number one role. You will be strategic, as well as hands on, and any knowledge or experience of the regulatory framework in gas or another regulated utility would be highly advantageous.
Your accountabilities and responsibilities as the Head of Treasury will include but will not be limited to:
* Manage a debt portfolio in excess of £1.8bn
* Ensure NGN maintains a strong investment grade credit rating
* Take steps to ensure interest charges and funding costs align with the regulatory debt allowance through an effective interest rate hedging strategy
* Maintain sufficient surplus cash and debt capacity to fund operations, network investment, taxes, interest and shareholder return
* Lead on raising of new debt to support the business’s strategic objectives
* Maintain strong ongoing relationships with key financial stakeholders
* Provide assurance to the NGN Treasury Committee and Board on Treasury positions while developing strategies on Treasury matters including systems, banking, credit ratings, funding and investor relations
* Oversee the maintenance of a robust regime of compliance and accurate, timely reporting
* Keep abreast of regulatory developments
* Provide coaching, oversee Treasury Manager and Finance team activities, and provide specialist support to the wider business
What we are looking for in our Head of Treasury:
* Raising debt in bank, bond and private placement markets including negotiating commercial and documentary terms
* Planning and executing interest rate hedging strategies
* Ability to communicate effectively with external stakeholders and senior management and at board level including explaining complex financial concepts to non-finance people
* Financial risk management (interest rate, inflation, foreign exchange, credit, refinancing and liquidity risk)
* Knowledge of the workings of financial markets and economics including the dynamics of interest rates and inflation
* Accounting for financial instruments and knowledge of regulation within UK utilities, in particular cost of debt, cost of equity allowances and financeability would be advantageous
