Lockton is seeking an experienced Head of Compliance to lead our compliance team and ensure that our business meets the highest standards of regulatory compliance. As the leader of the European compliance function you will be visible and have a hands on approach to partnering with the business, interpreting and advising on FCA and other regulatory requirements.
What You'll Do: As the Head of Compliance, you will lead and mentor a team of compliance professionals while shaping the strategic direction of the compliance function across our UK and European offices. You’ll be responsible for fostering strong relationships with key regulatory bodies, primarily the FCA, and ensuring that Lockton stays ahead of the curve on compliance and regulatory changes.
Key responsibilities include:
* Lead, mentor, motivate and promote the compliance team, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and Lockton’s core values.
* Manage relationships with the FCA, and lead projects related to regulatory reviews and investigatory work.
* Partner with the business and the internal audit function to maintain and the develop the 3 lines of defence model and to find compliance solutions to business activities;
* Develop and maintain trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, supporting business growth through proactive compliance engagement.
* Oversee and ensure timely reporting and notifications to the FCA, including using FCA reporting systems effectively.
* Champion the development of a strong and consistent compliance culture within the European and International group, ensuring that compliance practices align with business needs.
* Undertake comprehensive horizon scanning and ensure that the business responds to regulatory changes in line with Lockton’s risk appetite.
* Maintain, develop and enforce appropriate policies and procedures to demonstrate regulatory compliance and facilitate smooth operations.
* Contribute to the leadership of the wider LRCS team including the development and delivery of the LRCS strategy, finding efficiencies and promoting cross department collaboration.
What We're Looking For:
* 10+ years of experience in the insurance industry, with a background in insurance broking being a plus.
* Proven expertise in FCA relationship management, and a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape.
* Experience in leading and promoting teams and delivering results in high-stakes and fast growth environments.
* Strong risk management and insurance qualifications are advantageous.
* A solution-oriented and collaborative attitude with an ability to develop strong relationships, trust and respect with senior stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor.
* A can do attitude with a ‘hands on’ approach, able to balance competing objectives and priorities.
* Demonstrates sound judgement, great analytical skill set with the ability to instil trust and deliver the desired results.
